Growing up during WWII

Autobiographical account of a person who grew up in Southern California during and after WWII.

This is a short autobiographical essay which focuses on the author’s own opinion of race relations and how they have changed over time and the different historical events that have shaped and affected perceptions of other races and cultures. The paper is written from the author’s personal perspective and talks about why her own values and openess toward other cultures would complement the classroom setting.

I am not your typical education student. I was born in southern California in 1944. It might be hard for some of my younger classmates to imagine all the differences between how they grew up and how I grew up, but it’s important for me to understand how my life has shaped who I am today and how that will affect me as a teacher.
